Michael Marx currently serves as a senior civil-military coordination advisor for the United Nations, Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (UN/OCHA) in New York. He is responsible for providing technical and policy advice on issues of significant impact in humanitarian emergency operations. He often deploys, on short notice, to areas impacted by a natural disaster or areas of conflict to assist in the assessment and planning of disaster relief services. When he is not deployed he conducts training on the guidelines, concepts and principles of UN/OCHA disaster relief services, including the proper use of military and civil defense assets.
