Amy B. Aiken has over 20 years of emergency management experience at the county, municipal and academic level. She has been Florida International University’s (FIU) Director of Emergency Management since 2011. Before coming to FIU, Amy spent 18 years in local government. 15½ of those years were working for Miami-Dade County in progressively responsible positions including Assistant Director of Emergency Management during the 2005 hurricane season, the busiest season to date. She also served 2½ years as the Assistant to the City Manager/Director of Emergency Management for the city of Fort Lauderdale and was there during the Deepwater Horizon oil spill.
